Are You Interested in Pursuing Certification?

H.O.P.E. Consulting, LLC has experienced BCBA-level team members that provide staff with supervision towards fulfillment of the required experience and supervision hours for the national certification examination at the BCaBA and BCBA levels. Supervision towards these credentials is provided in one of two ways, both of which offer staff the opportunity to complete direct work with our clients and their families, as well as participate in ongoing research projects.

Internship Program

First, H.O.P.E. Consulting, LLC has established an Internship Program. The program was designed in close collaboration with the behavior analysis faculty at California State University, Sacramento (CSUS), and has been specifically tailored to complement a graduate student’s academic experience. Training is provided according to the BACB®’s most current task list, and supervision is provided both in individual (in home) and group (in office) settings. Our Internship Program is affiliated with the University, and collaboration with academic faculty is ongoing to help ensure each intern receives the best experience and training possible.

Individual supervision is typically provided via overlaps in clients’ homes, with a focus on incorporating training topics related to task list content items into direct work. Additionally, group supervision focuses on the conceptual and theoretical training related to task list content items. Within this setting, interns are provided the opportunity to advance their skills through the completion of related homework assignments, the development of research protocols, and presentations.

Supervision

For staff seeking to pursue certification who are not enrolled in the graduate program at CSUS, we provide supervision on a first-come, first-serve basis, according to the availability of resources. Supervision and training provided via this forum is embedded within the course of normal work activities, corresponding to the position held within the agency. As with our Internship Program, supervision and experience activities consist of a combination of both individual and group supervision activities, provided either in the home or in the office, respectively.

Minimum Requirements

All potential interns and supervisees must meet the following minimum requirements for consideration of supervision towards certification.

  • Employed by H.O.P.E. Consulting, LLC for a minimum of 3-6 months, with a history of satisfactory work performance
  • Openings available for the Intern position and availability of BCBA-level staff to help with the training and promotion process
  • Applications are always accepted; however, the above considerations will determine whether placement is feasible

Additionally, all potential interns and supervisees must successfully complete a pre-assessment period prior to the onset of supervision and training towards certification.

Pre-Assessment Period (applies to the initial 3-6 month employment period)

  • Must complete and maintain a minimum of 12 client hours weekly and be available for additional group supervision meetings and completion of internship related assignments/projects/readings
  • Must have consistently met all agency professionalism and ethical guidelines
  • Must have a record of communicating effectively with supervisors and colleagues
  • Experience with multiple clients and programs (preferred/if possible)

If all of the prerequisites are not met, the deficit areas will be identified and a new pre-assessment period will be established (approximately 3 months). If the interested intern/supervisee meets the prerequisites but there is not a current position available (either due to available positions or resources), the applicant will be placed on a list and when a position is available, the person identified as being the most qualified will be contacted first. Qualifications are determined by: performance, ABA coursework completed, and progress on position-related training goals.

Interested interns/supervisees should contact the Program Director directly at: dlafrance@hopeconsulting.net for further information.

Registered Behavior Technician Credential

Additionally, H.O.P.E. Consulting, LLC offers training and ongoing supervision for those interested in pursuing the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential. This program is separate and apart from the Internship Program and supervision structure described above. Interested applicants and staff should contact our Founder and C.E.O. to inquire directly at: dmontgomery@hopeconsulting.net
